UPCOMING PACKAGED RELEASES

Releasing Friday, 10/15

  • Story of the Ghost // Hauntingly Pale Ale // We feel we've never told you the story of this beer—a hauntingly pale ale brewed with extra pale malt, flaked wheat, and oats to produce a smooth, silky body. It's big secret is an assertive late-addition of tropical, citrusy, and piney hops that will awaken your palate and reanimate your soul. // 8.75% ABV /16oz Cans

Releasing Friday, 10/15

  • College // Cream Ale // Cream in name only, this bright, refreshing ale is the perfect crusher on gamedays or anytime in-between. College is a crisp, malt-driven beer complimented with Crystal hops to provide a floral/fruity aroma. A portion of flaked maize helps round out the body for a full, complex profile, while extended cold conditioning provides a clean finish.

The key to this beer is the time-honored tradition of kräusening. After racking into the secondary and letting the beer drop clear we added a portion of actively fermenting Gloria! to carbonate and finish the beer. // 4.5% ABV /16oz Cans

GENERAL

Wild Bottles Moving to 750mL

  • As you may have seen with our recent release of Amusement, we have begun transitioning our wild beer into a larger 750mL bottle. The bottled beer landscape has changed over the past year, and people are discovering different ways to enjoy beer. Now with more gatherings taking place, we want customers of Block 15 to be able to enjoy our beer, while also sharing with others! And there’s no better way to do it, than to offer up more of our award-winning wild ales in larger bottles.

  • Please note, our non-wild barrel-aged beers, which tend to be much higher in alcohol, will continue to be packaged in 500mL bottles.

PUB UPDATES

  • Some of you may have noticed that we recently added a few more bar stools into our mix, and with that, have changed up the way we number them to make finding the proper barstool a little clearer. Bar stools are now named B1-B10 with B1 being the barstool closest to the front door/inside host stand and B10 being closest to the “Rail” table. Now, when you go to deliver food to a bar guest, you’ll know that the person sitting at “B6” will be the person sitting six bar stools in from the door.

  • We will be adding some overhead heaters to the 100’s and installing the tent in the corral this week! In the meantime, while we are using the propane heaters, please remember to turn off the heaters when not in use and to turn off the propane each night before bringing in the heaters.

  • Napkin awareness week! When running food, we should be handing out one napkin per entree or person (with the exception of an extra napkin for the especially messy items such as burgers and meatloaf sandwiches). If you are dropping off entrees after an appetizer and notice that the table already has a large stack of napkins, please ask if they would like more napkins before setting down another stack. No one likes wasting napkins!

TAP ROOM UPDATES

  • With the weather getting chillier, we are going to want to have a few backup propane heaters on the patio so we don’t have to run back to the cage mid-shift.  Let’s make sure to not leave them next to the tables or heaters and instead tuck them neatly over in the kitchen/bbq area.

  • We ran out of all of our Cellar Stash bottles over the weekend which is awesome!  I have a few more lined up for this Friday so get ready to slang some more bottles.

STAFF UPDATES

  • Congratulations to Danica Pommerenk, Jessica Andrew, and Devon Ahearn who are all moving into Server positions! Woohoo!

Please help folks to the best of your ability through this.

GABF Gold for Altbier!

Block 15 was awarded a gold medal at the 2021 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition! Our Altbier was recognized in the German-style Altbier beer-style as the gold-standard amongst some intense competition.

“Being recognized with a GABF Gold Medal validates our team's hard work and dedication to our craft.” said Nick. “Our Altbier exemplifies the crossroads of several brewing techniques, blending malt forward character with balanced hop selection and cold conditioning, usually implemented in our lager program.”

Judging took place in 34 sessions over 17 days. 170 judges evaluated 9,680 entries from 2,192 breweries from all 50 states.

We will have a limited amount of Alt at the Tap Room and Pub, so pour a pint and raise a glass to our incredible brewing team!

PUB UPDATES

  • Just a reminder/clarification on server breaks: unless the manager on duty communicates that your section will be changing when you go on break, you should always come back to the same section that you were in before going on break. If the section does change while you are on break, the manager on duty will communicate that change directly. Also, there is an info sheet on the Break Room whiteboard that details the process that should be followed when going on break, please look at this before your next shift and let a manager know if you have any questions!

  • A quick update to our employee benefits: you all now will receive 25% off of guest packaged products (SeekOuts, 2 Towns Cider, wine, Jun, etc.) this discount applies only when the items are taken to-go and are not meant for in-house consumption.

  • With the upstairs section likely opening this weekend due to rain in the forecast, we have created a list of cleaning/organizing tasks to help prepare that space. Please check in with a FOH manager to see which tasks still need to be completed.

  • We are adding a Michelada (mexican lager with a spicy tomato based mix added--think bloody mary, but spicier) to our cocktail menu this Friday! It will be served with a Tajin rim which is a chili-lime salt. So refreshing!

TAP ROOM UPDATES

  • Due to the craziness last week, we pushed the Side-Pull tap to this Friday, so get ready!

  • Please remember to check on and wipe down the new standing bench throughout the day. Even if no one has used it, the wind will blow dust on it so let’s keep it looking sharp!

New Menu Items

DSC09619-2.jpg
  • We have launched our new and improved chopped pork sandwich. We enhanced the brine and rub procedure to add more flavor, retain more fat and create a fantastic, smoky bark. Along with this I made some slight adjustments to our slaw! The dressing is the same but the cut of the cabbage is finer, removed red bell pepper and added a bit of green onion. Lastly we will be replacing our Honey-Bourbon BBQ sauce and our KC BBQ Sauce with 2 new sauces.

    • Carolina Gold- This is our gold standard BBQ sauce that would be the number one recommendation for our chopped pork sandwich. It is a mustard based sauce but is very well balanced, unlike a lot of mustard based bbq sauces that are very vinegary. It has the perfect balance of heat, sweet, tanginess and smokiness.

    • Sweet KC- This is still a Kansas city style BBQ sauce but it is quite a bit different from our current. It has a silkier, more sauce like consistency instead of being pasty like our current KC. It has a perfect balance of sweet and tangy with some depth from a decent amount of molasses. If a guest preferred the sweet and not spicy style of BBQ sauce then this would be the recommendation!

    • Please remember to let guests know that the sauces have changed, especially the Kansas City is now SWEET KC and it is in fact quite different from the previous. Encourage guests to sample both sauces and be enthusiastic about these rad improvements!

    • Both sauces are vegan and gluten free!

      Bloktoberfest Specials!

      • DOWNTOWN & TAPROOM

        • Festival Sausage Sandwich-Peppertree Sausage House festival sausage w/stone ground aioli, sauerkraut and melted swiss on a house bun.

        • Pork Schnitzel-Thinly pounded Carlton Farms pork cutlet, breaded and fried. Drizzled with brown butter pan sauce and served with apple compote and warm, house made German potato salad. (Fri-Sun at the taproom only)

        • The Harvest Burger-Hand spanked Painted Hills beef patty topped with caramelized Peoria Road Farm Markets apples onions, melted bleu cheese and stone ground aioli on a buttery, toasted bun.

Featuring hops exclusively from nearby Coleman AG, Citra & Strata was chosen by Block 15, with Simcoe selected by Other Half to cram this New England-style IPA with notes of orange peel, passionfruit and strawberry. MARKETING

  • As you know, Alumni Club, Brooklyn Chapter releases this week. This collaboration project has been in the works for months, and we’re excited to kick off this annual collaboration! Every year, we will partner with an alumni that has graduated from the Oregon State University Fermentation Science program. For our inaugural brew, we paired up with Sam Richardson, co-founder and brewmaster of Other Half Brewing in New York.

Moving forward, we will coordinate with the Oregon State Alumni Association to identify breweries around the United States with alumni from the Ferm Science program. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase all the great things that originate from our awesome Corvallis region...local ingredients, talented OSU students and Block 15!

PUB UPDATES

  • When watering plants outside, please pour out the water gently and evenly over the planters. Dumping the bucket too forcefully or quickly can cause the soil to wash out and will cause the roots to be exposed which harms the plants.

  • The cord has been replaced for the vacuum (hooray!). When you are finished vacuuming, please neatly gather the cord back up to prevent new damage or kinks from forming.

TAP ROOM UPDATES

  • We are now keeping extra napkins, straws and paper towels in the tall cabinet next to the server window area(where the trashcan used to live) The only thing that should live on the bottom shelf from now on are the trays.

  • There is now a handle on the brewery side of the “employee barrel” to hang extra hangers after customers have bought retail.  If you notice that it is full when you go to put one there, please transfer them up to the mezzanine.

  • The Barrel Room will be used for the foreseeable future to ferment grapes. We will not be using it for seating for the next few months which means that large party reservations are going to be limited. Please still refer customers asking about large parties to Sean@block15.com. Thanks!

New Menu Items

  • The Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich launches at the taproom today!

  • Next Wednesday we will be launching our new and improved chopped pork sandwich. We have enhanced the brine and rub procedure to add more flavor, retain more fat and create a fantastic, smoky bark. Along with this I made some slight adjustments to our slaw! EVENTS

Bloktoberfest 2021

  • As mentioned before, due to the rise in COVID cases, we are no longer planning to do the Bloktoberfest festival in the street at the downtown Pub.

  • Much more details are to follow, but instead, we will be doing a week-long celebration at both of our locations from Sept 20 thru 26th. This will feature food specials, Authentic mugs available for purchase, beer served in those mugs, live music, decorations throughout, and a couple of surprises too! We will share more details as they are finalized. Even though Delta is around again, we are still excited to be able to celebrate fall in some form while sipping on delicious beverages!

PUB UPDATES

  • We have updated the parking space take-out signs to instruct folks to call the Pub, rather than text the Google Voice number that we had connected to the laptop behind the bar. As you all are expo-ing take-out tickets, please be sure to check the copy of the ticket on the bar to see if the guest is here and waiting. If you answer the phone when someone calls to pick up their order, please ask them what kind of car they are in, and where they are parked (Jefferson VS 3rd street).

  • We have officially 86’d the Anne Amie Rosé and will now be offering the Sweet Cheeks Dry Rosé (a rosé made with Pinot Noir and Syrah grapes) which is from Eugene, OR. A write-up is posted about this selection on the pre-shift check-in board in the breakroom.

TAP ROOM UPDATES

  • We are installing a Side Pull tap next week that we will be pouring Gloria! out of.  “For those who don’t know, a side pull beer faucet(or Czech beer faucet) is used to control the flow of beer to create a creamy head, which is the traditional way of enjoying a Czech pilsner.  The faucet is submerged into the mug to create a silky sweet head of foam.”  Check out this video and get ready to pour some of that sweet, sweet pilsner,

STAFF UPDATES

  • Nathan Hafeli - Distribution

  • Jason Racine - Brewery

New Menu Items

  • Due to one of our Fryers being down at the taproom we will only be launching the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich at the downtown location this Wednesday. I am putting together a composed hotdog to launch this Friday at the taproom so keep a lookout in your Hotschedules inbox for those details!

EVENTS

Septembeerfest

  • Originally scheduled for August 28, has been canceled.

Bloktoberfest 2021

  • We know some staff have been receiving questions regarding the status for Bloktoberfest 2021. We are currently working through the plans for this year’s event, taking into consideration the current COVID situation. Stay tuned for more details.

PUB UPDATES

  • This week you will all notice some changes to how items are printing on prep tickets on the line. We are working on organizing kitchen prep tickets so that items get grouped by item style and order in which they should be fired on the line (for those of you that were here pre-pandemic, it will be similar to when we organized tickets when ringing in customer orders). This will also group “like items” together which will help streamline execution. Servers should not notice a change as they are ringing in items, and will not have to change any part of the entry process--this will automatically organize after the server hits send. If you all have any questions or feedback, please feel free to connect with a FOH or BOH manager.

  • In order to keep the Caves space clean and organized, we will be adding a few cleaning tasks (sweeping/mopping, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, etc.) to the Host/Food Runner weekly duties list. Please be sure to check these lists to see what new tasks need to be completed.

  • This Thursday we are installing an awning above the host stand to help protect from the elements during the upcoming rainy season. This will take the place of the half umbrella that we used last season and should cover a larger area.

TAP ROOM UPDATES

  • We have a side pull tap coming in a few weeks!  Stay tuned for more information next week.

  • There are plans for a soda water tap in the future as well.  Until we get that installed, we will continue to sell Perrier to guests.

STAFF UPDATES

  • Madie is joining the management team at the Tap Room in replacement of Paige’s management time on the floor. Congrats Madie!

  • Congrats to our new Line Cook Leads, Jon & Jess and to our new Bakery Manager, Lindsey!

New Menu Items

burgy.jpeg
  • Wednesday 9/1 we will launch the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich at both locations! It will replace the cold fry chicken. Crispy buttermilk fried chicken thigh served on a buttery toasted bun with finely shredded cabbage, spicy mayo and house bread and butter pickles. Served with beer-battered fries.

GENERAL UPDATES

Have you noticed murals around downtown Corvallis?  We have too!  If you haven’t, check all these out: Corvallis Murals & Mural Map Https://corvallismurals.com

Block 15 is soliciting ideas from you…yes YOU…for mural to be placed in the alley outside of the pub.  If you are interested in submitting an idea, then please send the following details:

Theme/content:

Artistic Style:  (Like these or other ways of describing your thoughts: https://simplicable.com/new/art-styles)

Nick and Kristen would like the final product to not include anything political, be positive/uplifting, and origonal/different from the other images in the collection throughout Corvallis.  It does not need to be about or include any references to beer/ingredients.

If you are inspired to submit an idea, please send the above content to Alicia (alicia@block15.com) by the end of the day on Sunday, August 22nd.  (Heuchert added if questions arise)

EVENTS

Corvallis Beer Week

  • Due to the rising number of positive cases in Benton County and beyond, we have decided to cancel our upcoming Corvallis Beer Week event, scheduled for Tuesday, August 24th. Our original plan was to hold an event at our Caves Public House location, but for the safety of our staff and community we have decided to hold off until next year.

Septembeerfest

  • Septembeerfest is a “go”! This year’s event will be held on Saturday, August 28th at Avery Park. Block 15 beers will be pouring at the event, and we will begin staffing for the event shortly. All Block 15 volunteers must be fully vaccinated in order to participate in pouring.

Bloktoberfest 2021

  • We know some staff have been receiving questions regarding the status for Bloktoberfest 2021. We are currently working through the plans for this year’s event, taking into consideration the current COVID situation. Stay tuned for more details.

PUB UPDATES

  • We are on our last few bottles of the Anne Amie Rosé and will be replacing it with a rosé (made with Pinot Noir and Syrah grapes) from Sweet Cheeks Winery out of Eugene. Once we officially break into these bottles, we will update the Pre-Shift Check-In boards, but in the meantime please read the blurb below to learn more about the tasting notes for this new selection! As we launch this new product, please feel free to ask the bartender for a sample to familiarize yourself.

    • “This lively Dry Rose (Dry Rose is the name of the wine) is bursting with bright notes of honeydew, raspberry and grapefruit, finishing with a distinct minerality on the palate.”

  • Elise made a lovely new home for our ketchup pump by the back server station, so please feel free to snag sides of ketchup there rather than from the line. The ketchup needs to be refrigerated overnight and can be stashed in the soup station fridge (but please remember to bring it out each morning as well). The pump itself will need to be hand washed four times a week as part of server closing duties (nights of the week will be designated on the closing list, so please double check your lists).

TAP ROOM UPDATES

  • We have an awesome new standing bench over on the parking lot side of the building.  Sean is doing some last minute repairs on it but once it is back in place, let’s make sure to keep it clean and wiped down throughout the shift just like any other table.

  • With the new QR codes, there is the occasional Pre-Authorized check that has not been closed out at the end of the night.  We need to make sure that we are closing every check before running your report for the day.  Sometimes, these checks are a little difficult to close out so Sean has made a SOP for troubleshooting these checks that lives on the breakroom table and in the bar binder. There is also information on there about Keg sales/returns since we have some new staff and our procedures have changed slightly.  Please read and sign this before your next shift so we can all be on the same page.  Thanks!

GENERAL UPDATES

Due to the rising number of positive COVID cases and hospitalization in Oregon, the Governor has announced masks will be REQUIRED in all indoor settings, starting this Friday August 13th. New signage will be posted at our locations reflecting that message.

PUB UPDATES

  • We have received some questions from many of our lovely new faces on what exactly a "cask" beer is. Click this link to learn all about the history of cask conditioned ales, and what makes them so darn special (and delicious)! It is fairly unique to have a cask offering, so please feel free to read the write-up and chat cask with some guests!

  • We are flying through our stock of Passion Fruit lemonade/margarita and will likely switch over to a Marionberry lemonade/margarita sometime this weekend (made with local Marionberries, which is pretty rad). Pre-shift whiteboards will be updated once we officially make the switch.

  • Please avoid stacking excess or dirty trays on top of the small server cabinet under the end of the bar. This area can quickly get cluttered and look a bit messy. Trays can be stashed in the holder at the bar, in the kitchen window area or a space can be carved out in the indoor hoststand if needed. Remember: if you use a tray to bus a dirty table, please wipe it with a sanitized rag before using it to run food or beverages to the next table.

UPCOMING PACKAGED RELEASES

Releasing Friday, 8/6

  • The DAB Lab, Juice Joint // IPA // The DAB Lab series focuses on vibrant hop-forward ales that prominently feature hop extractions. Juice Joint blends a heady hop combination that's packed with hop character of resin-dipped pineapple skunk and freshly squeezed twisted citrus. // 7% ABV // $4.00/16oz Can, plus deposit

GENERAL UPDATES

PUB UPDATES

  • Now that those pesky little yellow leaves are starting to fall, we will want to be more diligent about leaf blowing from the alley all the way past Caves. Also, please make sure to thoroughly clear the Corral of leaves and debris each morning.

  • Passion Fruit Margaritas and Lemonades will be running out in the next couple of weeks. Once we run through our current supply, we will switch to a Marionberry Lemonade (and Margarita) made with local Marionberries from Stahlbush Island Farms! Keep an eye out for more info on your pre-shift check in boards as we get closer to this change.

TAP ROOM UPDATES

  • The Tap Room cooler got reorganized a bit so there is more storage room for everyone, which means that our packaged beer area shifted a bit - essentially anything that is on pallets in the middle of the cooler (or very clearly on the floor right next to pallets) is ours to restock from! If you are ever unsure, ask a Manager or a Brewer.

  • Keep an eye on the patio plants and make sure they’re staying watered!! They are delicate little babies so don’t let them bake to death!

STAFF UPDATES

Congratulations to our two newest Lead Servers - Cesar D. and Morgan K.! Great job you two!

UPCOMING PACKAGED RELEASES

Releasing Friday, 7/30

  • Peach Punch (You in the Eye) // IPA with Peach and Apricot // Great Notion and Block 15 have teamed up again, blending techniques and ideas from both breweries to brew this luscious, fruit-forward IPA. Peach Punch was fermented with peaches and apricots and dry-hopped with massive amounts of galaxy and mosaic hops. // 7% ABV // $4.50/16oz Can, plus deposit

GENERAL UPDATES

WINGS VS. TENDERS LOCATION UPDATE

Just a quick update on our wings and tenders, effective Wednesday, 7/28!

  • We are going to be phasing wings out at the Pub, and having them only available at the Tap Room

  • Tenders are phasing out at the Tap Room, and will only be available at the Pub

    • Kids tenders will still be available at the Tap Room for a week-ish, though!

  • These changes are due to prep needs and the strain put on the prep kitchen, so hopefully this will make our prep angels lives a little easier!

RESERVATION POLICY UPDATES FOR BOTH LOCATIONS

Tap Room Reservations Update:

  • Reservations are perfectly acceptable as well as walk ups

  • Only 2 reservations per 15 minutes

  • Preferably made through the website but phone reservations are also acceptable for people struggling with the system

  • No walk up parties larger than 14

  • Max party size is 24 (usually going in the Barrel Room)

  • All reservations between 15 and 24 must be made a day in advance

  • Monday-Thursday: 1 party of 15 and over a day

  • Friday-Sunday: 2 parties of 15 and over but must be 6 hours apart unless approved by a manager

Pub Reservations Update:

    • We will no longer offer reservations for most parties. Instead, we will offer up to two reservations per night for groups with at least 8 guests and no more than 16 in a night (so if we get one request for a group of 16, that would take both "large party" reservation slots).

    • All large party reservations must be made over the phone and up to 3 days in advance

    • Large party reservations must be at least 2 hours apart

    • We will not accept any reservations larger than 16 people and similarly, walk-up large party requests will be limited at 12 people. If larger parties are interested in reserving the Game Room (as we have done pre-pandemic) please have them email gameroom@block15.com.

    • Guests will still be able to add themselves to the waitlist, but they must do so using our online system. We will not add any names to the waitlist over the phone, but guests can also see how long our waitlist is by going to our website.

If any guests or employees have any questions on these updates, please ask a manager.

PUB UPDATES

  • The Rail seating will be returning! For those of you that are not familiar, "The Rail" is the small floating bar top by table 11. We will bring back 2 bar stools for guests to sit at while they wait for a table (or have a meal if they want). This space is similar to the Brewer's Bar in that it is a first come, first served space that orders from the bar.

  • We are adding an exciting new local product to our Non-Alcoholic line-up! Starting this Friday, 7/30 we will carry a Black Currant, Blueberry and Lavender Jun made by Mother Culture Jun which is local to Corvallis! Jun is a honey kombucha made with green tea and the honey that Mother Culture uses comes from local Pacific NW bees (Jun also typically has less sugar and caffeine). The flavor that we are carrying is light and slightly dry with bright berry notes with a good bit of lavender on the finish. It will come in a 16oz bottle and will be available for in-house and to-go sales.

TAP ROOM UPDATES

  • Pear Flower is officially 86’d, as we are out of Sprite! We will be launching the Red Berry Painkiller on Friday, 7/30 though, as a new cocktail!

STAFF UPDATES

  • Welcome to our newest staff members!

    • Ethan McGarry - Line Cook

UPCOMING PACKAGED RELEASES

Releasing Friday, 7/23

  • Animal Cookies // IPA // Brewed for the hop-loving animal inside of you, this can is packed with sticky, pungent hops. Unleash a swirling circus of pineapple, tangerine, mango, pine, and dank herb hop character, balanced with pale malt and malted oats for a soft mouthfeel and gentle finish. // 7% ABV // $4.00/16oz Can, plus deposit

  • Alt // Altbier // This northern German-style Altbier leads out with a beautiful malt profile featuring caramel, grain, and bread notes that quickly give way to a crisp and refershing finish. Cool fermentation with a German ale yeast lends this altbier fruity and gently rustic complexity, while extended cold conditioning—much like what you find in a traditionally brewed lager—rounds it out with a smooth, refined, finish. // 5% ABV

GENERAL UPDATES

PACKAGE VS. DRAFT PRICING STRUCTURE

A few guests have recently asked some servers why beer is priced lower in a can vs when it is on draft. The answer to that comes down to the location it is consumed. When pricing a draft beer, the price includes the cost of the atmosphere, server delivering it, glassware (and washing) as well as the table space where the guest is enjoying the beer. When pricing a can of beer, it is planned that the guest takes the beer home to drink where those associated costs (glassware, atmosphere, etc) are provided by the guest in other forms.

PUB UPDATES

  • Just a reminder to throw your hat in the ring for a Lead Server position by Friday, July 23rd if you are interested! A description of the duties and expectations was sent out last week by Goody, so please feel free to check that out and let her know if you have any questions!

  • Starting Friday, July 23rd we will be topping the Fruit Vodka Lemonade with soda water rather than Sprite to keep the cocktail consistent across both the Pub and Tap Room.

  • A new host stand map has been created to replace the old time limit chart. Please use this new map to track which tables are sat (an X or check mark works well) and which tables are dirty (scribbling out the dirty table with an expo marker). There is also space to note which servers are working and what their sections are and enough space on each table to write the name of the party that will be seated there (if that helps for flow of communication). If you have any feedback or suggestions, please feel free to pass them along to a manager!

TAP ROOM UPDATES

  • We’ll be phasing out Sprite at the Tap Room since we don’t have a soda gun, so we’ll be 86’ing Pear Flower cocktails and then using soda for the Fruit Vodka lemonades.

  • Use our glass pitchers for folks wanting water - if people want a pitcher of beer, still use the plastic pitchers as they are actually 64oz!

STAFF UPDATES

  • Welcome to our newest staff members!

UPCOMING PACKAGED RELEASES

Releasing Friday, 7/16

  • The DAB Lab, Double Dab // Imperial IPA // Pairing a soft malt profile and a pair of juicy yeast strains, Double Dab elicits a double-take at the first sip, bursting with notes of pineapple and passionfruit, lemon zest and rind, and then eases into a wave of resin and dank herbs. // 8.9% ABV // $4.50/16oz Can, plus deposit

MENU UPDATES

  • Starting this week we will be offering chicken wings STARTING Fridays and running until we run out!  Tomorrow we will be reprinting menus to reflect the limited availability of them.

    • Our chicken wings come only from the whole chickens that we break down in-house. We use every part of the bird! Breasts for tuscans and our add on sous-vide chicken, tenders for house breaded chicken tenders, thighs & legs for Sunday BBQ chicken and smoked chicken, bones for stock and wings for wings! Due to this being our process we only have a limited amount per week and have decided to offer them on the weekends. Please feel free to relay this information to guests if someone comes in mid-week looking for our tasty wings!

  • We will be out of our regular sweet potato fries for a couple of weeks so we will be offering a substitute! It is still a beer battered product, but is thinner, more like a shoestring fry. Please make sure to pass this on to the guests as they are ordered. They are still quite good!

    • Also! Kitchen folks, do note that they cook about twice as fast as our standard sweet fry.

PUB UPDATES

  • We are looking to add to our pool of Lead servers at the Downtown Pub! If you are a server interested in a Lead position, please message Goody on HotSchedules no later than the end of day on Friday, July 23rd. Interviews will be scheduled for the following week. Feel free to reach out to Goody if you have any questions!

  • The hours for the downtown Pub are changing just a bit! Starting on Wednesday, July 21st, our hours will be 11am-11pm daily. This will help ease the big pop that we usually get first thing in the morning and ease the flow both for the front and back of house.

  • Starting Friday, July 23rd, we will be adding a fourth server during the day for our peak busy days (Friday-Monday). This shift will start at 11:30am and will help keep the opening shift to a reasonable length and offer support for the early afternoon pops. With this additional body, we will also offer the Game Room as a section covered by a server.

STAFF UPDATES

  • Congratulations to Darla Maxine and Hannah Plummer, who have been promoted to servers and will start their training in August!

  • Welcome to our newest staff members!

    • Brana Drummond - Server

    • Chris Nopwaskey - Line Cook

UNIQUE BEVERAGE RELEASES!

This weekend, we are releasing two new draft-only beverages! This also marks our first release from Block 15 Cellars!

PIQUETTE, PINOT GRIS AMBRE

Introducing Piquette! A sparkling, dry, low-alcohol and acidic wine brought to you by Block 15 Cellars. Using methods passed along through generations of vineyard workers, piquette is made from second pressings of grape pomace and spontaneously fermenting the remaining sugars. Our first Piquette, Pinot Gris Ambre was pressed from a combination of fresh pinot gris and pomace from our pinot gris skin contact wine. Ambre pours a brilliant garnet red with orange highlights. Notes of ripe cranberry, wild strawberry and barnyard accompany zippy acidity and a dry finish, giving this sparkler refreshing balance and complexity. Funky, fruity and fun, this piquette is perfect for any occasion, any time of day!

BERLINER WEISSE

Brewed in traditional fashion, this is a true spontaneous Berlin-style weissen bier that is low in alcohol, refreshingly tart, and deeply complex. A perfect summertime crusher at just over 3% ABV, this beer offers up creamy, tangy and stone fruit notes perfect for the season. Served in true form to berliner weisse in Germany, raspberry fruit syrup is offered via pump by your server to add a final touch of sweetness for balance.

UPCOMING PACKAGED RELEASES

Releasing Friday, 7/9

  • Duke IV // Wheat Ale // Named after Duke Wilhelm IV, who in the 15th century granted the authority to brew weissbier as an exception to the german purity law. this bier was brewed with imported German wheat and pilsner malts, gently hopped, and fermented with Bavarian weizen yeast. It pours a cloudy golden pint with a thick, white head. Aromas of fruits and spice are complemented by a crisp wheat flavor that finishes smooth and drinkable. // 4.5% ABV // $2.75/16oz Can, plus deposit

  • The DAB Lab, Tipping Point // IPA w/ Spruce Tips // Picked early and fresh from nearby Starker Farms, these sustainably-managed spruce tips produce splendid fruit qualities, making this juicy beer burst with vibrant notes of blueberries, pineapple, lemon zest and piney hop character. built around a trio of CO2 extract, incognito and cryo hops, the DAB Lab, Tipping Point finishes with a dank lingering bitterness and a crisp finish. // 7% ABV // $4.50/16oz Can, plus deposit

TUNES, BREWS, & BBQ IS BACK!

Starting next Wednesday, July 7th, we’ll be bringing back Tunes, Brews, & BBQ!

The structure will be a bit different this year - we’re going to have each band play two “sets” per night so we can accommodate two rounds of table reservations. The first set will run from 5:30-6:30, and the second set will run from 7:30-8:30. This allows us to give more customers the chance to enjoy the music, and the band gets a bit of a break in between sets!

Folks can start making reservations the Sunday of the week of the music, and it will be on a first come, first served basis for the table seatings. We will be allowing people to sit on the grass if they come and didn’t make a reservation.

We are also not putting up the stage this year where it historically has been (behind the firepit) - instead they will be playing in the northwest corner of the grass paver area!

Check out the Facebook event here, and if you have any questions feel free to reach out to Chris or another Tap Room manager!

UPCOMING PACKAGED RELEASES

Releasing Friday, 7/2

  • Squirrel Stash // Brown Ale // A roasty, nutty English-style Brown Ale brewed with British Maris Otter and a host of specialty malts, producing a silky mouthfeel and a malt profile full of toasted nuts, baker’s chocolate, and roasty malts. A delightfully dry finish brightens up this complex, malty beer. // 4.5% ABV // $2.75/16oz Can, plus deposit

  • Galaxy. Galaxy? Galaxy! // IPA // Brewed with 100% Galaxy hops, out-of-this-world hop notes of passionfruit, lemon zest, and peach underscore a vibrant aroma reminiscent of a bowl of tropical fruit. A gentle backing of flaked barley and oats supports this single-hop exploration with a soft mouthfeel and a sweet finish. Galaxy? This IPA is nothing but GALAXY! // 7% ABV // $4.50/16oz Can, plus deposit

  • Wandelpad // Belgian-Style Blonde Ale // Inspired by one of the finest Trappist beers we sampled in our travels through Belgium, this blonde ale was brewed with imported Belgian malts, Oregon-grown hops, and Trappist yeast. Crisp, complex, and refreshing, the result is a classic Belgian balance of fruity esters, rustic grist character, and a zesty hop finish. // 6.5% ABV // $2.75/16oz Can, plus deposit

GENERAL UPDATES

  • Here is just a quick reminder/blurb on how we are currently doing keg and corni sales:

    • People can order at block15.com/kegs (the main landing page has all the relevant information/instructions on it).

    • The store stays open all the time, however inventory gets updated on Mondays.

    • They have until 5pm on Thursday to place their order, and pick-up is on Fridays between 12pm and 9pm. If they miss that 5pm deadline, their order will be process for the next week.

    • If they have a corni, they will need to drop that off by 9pm on Thursday in order for us to fill it on that Friday morning.

    • If people have any questions or concerns, please direct them to Paige (paige@block15.com).

PUB UPDATES

  • The Pub is getting another new cocktail! This Friday we are adding the Red Berry Painkiller to the line-up at the Pub! This cocktail, which was a bestseller last summer, features a blend of gold rums infused with red berry tea, house made coconut cream, pineapple and orange juice, garnished with fresh grated nutmeg. *This will be at the Tap Room eventually as well!*

TAP ROOM UPDATES

  • With our new cocktails, we have also decided to bring out not only fruit vodka lemonades, but also additional fruit lemonades! So, we’ll have strawberry fruit vodka lemonades available all the time, and then whatever seasonal flavor is around as well! It’ll be nice to have another non-alcoholic option for folks, and everyone loves cocktails!

STAFF UPDATES

WELCOME!

Welcome to our newest staff member, Stephanie Atkins, who joins us as a Dishwasher at the Pub!

UPCOMING PACKAGED RELEASES

Releasing Friday, 6/25

  • Summer Knights // Kölsch // This German-style Kölsch beer blends a pilsner malt base with both the lightly fruity quality of an ale and the clean finish of a lager. enjoy while watching the corvallis knights hustle for the win, playing catch in the yard, or tending to the grill on a warm summer evening. PUB UPDATES

  • We are phasing out the Rain Drop this week and will be bringing back Mojitos for the summer starting this Friday, June 25th! As we wind down on Paloma sales, we will also phase that one out with the Passion Fruit Margarita. Descriptions on these two cocktails can be found below! Apricot lemonade will also be replaced with a Passion Fruit lemonade.

    • Mojito - Flor de Cana silver rum, muddled lime and locally grown mint, and simple syrup topped with soda water.

    • Passion Fruit Margarita - Olmeca Altos Reposado tequila, St. Germain Elderflower liqueur, passion fruit, lime and simple syrup served with a salted rim.

    • Keep your eyes peeled for further Summer additions as our Spring selections wind down!

  • The Gamay rosé is almost gone, and we will be replacing it with the Anne Amie 2020 Rosé of Pinot Noir. Tasting notes can be found on the pre-shift check in board in the break room.

  • Calling all Pub hosts! We are looking to hold some interviews internally for Server positions as we head into a busy summer. If you are interested, please send a HotSchedules message to Goody by Wednesday, June 30th. Interviews will be scheduled between July 1st and 7th. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

TAP ROOM UPDATES

  • Let’s open straws inside the Tap Room and put them physically in drinks (ice tea, strawberry lemonades, kids drinks, etc.), rather than giving wrapped straws. Those pesky wrappers blow away and turn to shreds and end up getting ALL over the grass and patio and are a pain to pick up! #littersucks

  • Similar to the Pub, we are working on phasing out our Spring cocktails! On Tuesday, July 29th the Tap Room will replace the Paloma and Rain Drop with a Passion Fruit Margarita and the Back Porch Lemonade (Citrus vodka, cranberry & lemon juice, Angostura bitters, and simple syrup topped with ginger beer).

  • Make sure to use leftover water from tables to water the plants on the patio! Not only does it help the plants, but it saves water!

MENU UPDATES

  • The Chipotle Black Bean Enchiladas will be releasing on Friday, June 25th!

UPCOMING PACKAGED RELEASES

Releasing SATURDAY, 6/19

  • Liberty and Justice for All // IPA // As many Americans celebrate their freedom on independence day, many others face inequalities that makes true freedom a yet unrealized dream. We stand united with our underserved brothers and sisters, and commit ourselves to the hard work of making liberty and justice a reality for all Americans. This year, a portion of the proceeds from this beer will be donated to the ACLU as they work to advance and defend civil liberties and civil rights that are fundamental to each and every one of us. Let’s come together to imagine and build a future that is better than what came before. // 7% ABV // $3.75/16oz Can, plus deposit

**This is a very special release - the reason it is being released on Saturday instead of our usual Friday is because Saturday is Juneteenth.

From Facebook:

One of the pillars that Block 15 proudly stands on is equality. It is woven into the fabric of who we are, our incredible staff, and the community we support. We are thrilled to offer our latest Liberty and Justice For All IPA that recognizes and supports people of all races, genders and lifestyles.

This year, a portion of the proceeds from this beer will be donated to the @aclu_nationwide as they work to advance and defend civil liberties and civil rights that are fundamental to each and every one of us. Let’s come together to imagine and build a future that is better than what came before.

Liberty and Justice for All IPA will release Saturday, Juneteenth, with distribution extending through the 4th of July. For this year, we will be offering cans in-house starting Saturday, June 19, with distribution to follow in the weeks after.

Peace, Love, and Justice For All!

GENERAL UPDATES

  • Corvallis Knights Tickets

    • Baseball season is here! As many of you know, through our sponsorship with the Corvallis Knights, we have 4 tickets to each home game - and we are making them available to our amazing staff!

    • This year there are two ways to claim your tickets:

      • 1: Each week, we will post the current week’s tickets in the Tap Room office. If they are hanging by the beer 1-sheets, they are available for the taking.

      • 2: If there is a future date that you would like to hold for yourself, please click into the spreadsheet below and list your name into the available ticket slots. We will set those tickets aside for you.

    • A few rules:
      • If you take/reserve the tickets, USE THEM! This is a great experience and we don’t want these to go unused.
      • Please be selective in choosing tickets and allow for everyone to have an opportunity see a game to cheer on our Knights!
      • Remember, you are representing Block 15 by sitting in these seats...so have fun, responsibly!

    • Thanks everyone. Play ball!!!

    • There is no cheese or other dairy in the sauce or filling so if the cheddar and queso fresco are held, this is a completely vegan option! It is vegetarian otherwise.

  • The Tuna Melt is leaving the Pub, being replaced with a new Shrimp Sandwich!

    • The Shrimp Sandwich is an Asian-inspired shrimp roll using sustainably sourced shrimp from Ecuador. The shrimp is sautéed in a sesame-pepper pan sauce. It is served on a house-made roll with mayonnaise, shredded Napa cabbage, pickled carrot and radish.

    • For the time being this is a Pub switch only, meaning the Tap Room will still have the Tuna Melt.

THE PEOPLE’S PINT

JUNE’S PEOPLE’S PINT

Ocean Blue Project // Ocean Blue Project is a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in 2012 in Newport, Oregon by father and son, Richard and Fleet Arterbury, tribal members of the Choctaw Nation. We are built around one vision: that the world’s ocean, beaches and rivers will once again be pristine, self-sustaining ecosystems where wildlife and human communities can coexist and thrive.

Additional fun facts: World Oceans Day is June 8th, and Ocean Blue is hosting a beach cleanup in Lincoln City on 6/12!

*Gloria is still the beer of choice in June for the People’s Pint!
