YOU OUGHTA KNOW!
CLIMATE ACTION WEEK
As you know, Block 15 take its footprint on this earth seriously. Climate change is a critical issue and our sustainability plan is always evolving, as we constantly search for unique and effective ways to create the highest quality beer and food in a more sustainable manner.
It was brought to Kristen A.’s attention by our very own Caves line cook, Sierra Absher, that September 20th-27th marks Climate Action Week. Sierra took the time to present her with information and ideas on how Block 15 could get involved in our community (thanks Sierra!). The Corvallis Climate Action Alliance has organized a Climate Justice March & Rally on Friday, September 27th, and we’re going to get involved!
There are two ways to get involved, and you can do either:
Come make some posters with us!
Block 15 is hosting a pre-march and rally poster-making event this Sunday, September 22nd from 2-4pm in the Barrel Room at the Tap Room. Materials, food, and drinks will be provided. This is a great way to hang out with co-workers with free food and beverages while supporting a super important issue!March & Rally with us!
Block 15 & Caves will compensate any employee (at their current hourly rate) for their time participating in the March & Rally on Friday, September 27th. We ask that all employees wear a Block 15 or Caves shirt to identify ourselves as a cohesive, sustainably minded group! Please be aware that if you are scheduled but want to participate in either event, you must take the proper routes to getting your shift (or part of it) covered accordingly.
March & Rally Details - Friday, September 27th
2:45 pm: Gather at meeting locations (for us, Block 15 Pub)
3:00 pm: Marches begin
3:45 pm: Rally Starts at Riverfront Park
5:00 pm: Disperse
The three marches will converge at the Riverfront Park. Expect to march approximately 25 minutes. Marchers are encouraged to make their own signs for the march and rally. Fighting the climate breakdown is about much more than emissions and scientific metrics – it’s about fighting for a just and sustainable world that works for everyone. If we are going to fight for this, we need everyone. Join the March and Rally to show how many in our community want a just transition to a livable future for all of human society!
For more information, visit their web site!
If you’re interested in adding the pre-march/rally poster making event, please RSVP here so we can have an idea of how many people to expect!

THE PEOPLE’S PINT / DINE OUTS
September’s People’s Pint partner is Fresh & Local, First. The designated beer is Fruit Wheat at the Pub and Fresh Flow at the Tap Room.
*Here’s some background on Fresh & Local, First: Small scale farmers depend on farmers’ markets to sell their produce. Low income people depend on the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to feed their families. Fresh & Local, First! raises money to increase the value of SNAP at farmers’ markets, supporting both low income people and local food producers.
