WANDERING AENGUS CIDER TASTING & TOUR
Each year, Block 15 takes a quick day trip up to Salem to tour the Wandering Aengus Cider facility for a fun tour and tasting of some bourbon barrel aged cider that will eventually be blended into the Blind Tiger cider that we offer during Bourbon Month in February. This year's tour will take place on Monday, January 7th at 11am (we will leave Corvallis at 10am) but do not fret, we will be back in town with plenty of time to prepare for the Holiday Party later that day! To sign-up for the tour, please follow this link and fill out the form to put your name on the sign-up list. If you have any questions, please shoot Alex Goodwin a HotSchedules message! Sign-ups will continue until Thursday, 12/27 or until Goody has 15 people signed up, whichever comes first!
Resilience IPA went on tap yesterday, and we will be donating 100% of it’s sales to the Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund to support those impacted by the Camp Fire. We joined Sierra Nevada and independent breweries around the country in supporting the Butte County community by brewing Resilience. Sierra Nevada has put together a cool interactive map showing all the different breweries/tap houses participating! NPR chatted with Sierra Nevada’s CEO Ken Grossman about the program, and you can listen to that interview here. Thursday night is also Resilience Night - Sierra Nevada is asking people to visit their local participating brewpub to drink Resilience IPA on Thursday, so beertenders, prepare to sling some Resilience for the cause!
PRAY FOR SNOW
We are participating in Pray For Snow events in partnership with two local radio stations (NRQ and KZEL). These events will be at the Tap Room on the 2nd Thursday of the month, beginning in November and ending in March. Pray For Snow is a live event focused on snow-based activities (skiing, snowboarding, etc.) with lots of prize giveaways ($20k total in prizes over the five months of events), games, contests, etc. We expect this to bring in a good number of folks new to Block 15 from around the region. Congrats to Laura for winning last week’s grand prize, a dope snowboard! Laura, you may want to sign-up for snowboard lessons!;)
THE CORVALLIS HALF MARATHON & 5K
The Corvallis Half Marathon & 5K is quickly approaching! The 5k is Saturday April 14th and the Half Marathon is Sunday April 15th. Block 15 encourages you to participate! In support of this, we will be covering the registration cost of any Caves or Block 15 employee who participates.
You must request, and be approved for, that time off of work by February 28th.
If you would like to register for one of these runs, please check in with your scheduling manager first. Sarah and Laura will be giving Kristen A. a list of all staff members who are approved for that time off. She will then message all approved staff with a code that will allow you to register for free!
Please note this 'offer' is only good for those of you who participate. If you register, but don't participate, you will owe Block 15 the registration fee, so make sure to only sign up if you are committed to running!
For event specific information, please visit the Corvallis Half Marathon website. Let Kristen know if you have any questions.
Make sure to give Kacee a hug the next time you see her. Her last day is sometime next week. :(
BLOCK 15 ACCOLADES
Ocean Blue acknowledged all the hard work we've been putting in to reduce single use plastics, and waste more broadly, in an article posted on their web site last week. They also talked about our beach clean-up held this past June. Thanks Ocean Blue!
Our beer was recently given some love by both the Oregonian (in their Civil War Battle of the Breweries article) and famed beer writer Jeff Alworth (in his Best of 2018 article). Check out both writeups to see how well our beer is being received out in the wild! (They’re short reads, so you’ll only have to invest a few minutes total.)
WHAT’S NEW ON INSTA
Nothing on deck for the remainder of the year. They rocked a few packed weeks of events so they deserve a holiday break!
Below are a few sweet pictures from last week’s Santa’s Folly!
Caves has a great selection of holiday beers from around the world available on draft and in their awesome bottle cooler, with most bottles available to-go. You should also check out Caves’ aged eggnog with bourbon, brandy, and rum, which will be available through Christmas. Make sure to secure a safe ride home after drinking that stuff…it’s dangerously delicious!

UPCOMING BOTTLE / CAN RELEASES
The January release schedule is a bit funky due to the fact that we want to release Hoppy New Year! before the actual new year. This means that the First Saturday release at the Tap Room will be a bottle only release - there will be no canned offering. Please ask a manager if you have questions and/or are getting weird feedback from customers.
Wed 12/26: Hoppy New Year! Available in 16oz cans.
*(This will be released at both locations and will not include a mug club/employee release)
Sat 1/4: Turbulent Consequence, Cherry Pit. Available in 500mL bottles.

EMPLOYEE PACKAGED BEER DISCOUNT
Block 15 will now be offering a 25% discount for employees on all packaged beer! This will exclude crowler and growler sales, since we already get a discount on those ($1 off crowlers, $4 off growlers). The same limits will still apply to beers as normal. This perk is to benefit employees only - so please don’t abuse it! For the first week or so, you will need to actually ask for the discount to be given it. Imagine if you hadn’t read the newsletter…you’d be missing out on a week’s worth of discounts!
HOLIDAY PACKAGED BEER + GLASSWARE PROMO
The holiday packaged beer promo is still going on, with some slight tweaks - people can buy $20 worth of packaged beer and receive a free glass. If someone buys $50 worth of packaged beer, they will receive four free glasses. The glassware options are limited to tulips and logo pints only (no Belgians and no lambics). The appropriate discount buttons are in each location’s POS.
2015 AUTUMN FARMHOUSE EMPLOYEE FIRE SALE
We’re going to be selling off a chunk of cellared 2015 Autumn Farmhouse to employees by the case at a whopping discount. Stop by the Tap Room to pick up bottles for $12/case (12 bottles per case).
THE PEOPLE’S PINT / DINE OUTS
We are currently partnering with Corvallis Environmental Center for The People’s Pint tap. The designated beer is Alpha IPA at both the Pub and the Tap Room.
The Tap Room dine-out on 12/11 raised $400 for the Jefferson Elementary PTA!
The Pub dine-out on 12/18 raised $573.46 for Cameron Merrill’s Legacy!
The Toy Drive will accept donations up until business close on Friday, 12/21, then it’s over until next year!
NEXT PUB DINE OUT
Check back in February!
NEXT TAP ROOM DINE OUT
