Wandering Aengus Cider Tasting and Tour
Each year, Block 15 takes a quick day trip up to Salem to tour the Wandering Aengus Cider facility for a fun tour and tasting of some bourbon barrel aged cider that will eventually be blended into the Blind Tiger cider that we offer during Bourbon Month in February. This year's tour will take place on Monday, January 7th at 11am (we will leave Corvallis at 10am) but do not fret, we will be back in town with plenty of time to prepare for the Holiday Party later that day! To sign-up for the tour, please follow this link and fill out the form to put your name on the sign-up list. If you have any questions, please shoot Alex Goodwin a HotSchedules message!

Resilience IPA
We joined Sierra Nevada and independent breweries around the country in supporting the Butte County community by brewing Resilience IPA. We will be donating 100% of our Resilience IPA sales to the Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund to support those impacted by the Camp Fire. Sierra Nevada has put together a cool interactive map showing all the different breweries/tap houses participating!

Pray for Snow
We are participating in Pray For Snow events in partnership with two local radio stations (NRQ and KZEL). These events will be at the tap room on the 2nd Thursday of the month, beginning in November and ending in March. Pray For Snow is a live event focused on snow-based activities (skiing, snowboarding, etc.) with lots of prize giveaways ($20k total in prizes over the five months of events), games, contests, etc. There will be some dope Block 15 specific giveaways at this week’s event, including signed Fresh Pow prints, Fresh Pow merch, and Block 15 glassware and stickers. We expect this to bring in a good number of folks new to Block 15 from around the region.

Congratulations to Paige! She is now Block 15’s new Event Manager.

Manager review feedback needed:
It is time to do Laura’s review as a new pub manager.  Please take some time to give Laura some feedback on areas she is doing well in her new role, and areas you would like her to focus on improving. Complete your review here. Reviews need to be completed by December 14th.

Ocean Blue acknowledged all the hard work we've been putting in to reduce single use plastics, and waste more broadly, in an article posted on their web site last week. They also talked about our beach clean-up held this past June. Thanks Ocean Blue!

Our beer was recently given some love by both the Oregonian (in their Civil War Battle of the Breweries article) and famed beer writer Jeff Alworth (in his Best of 2018 article). Check out both writeups to see how well our beer is being received out in the wild! (They’re short reads, so you’ll only have to invest a few minutes total.)

The Corvallis Half Marathon & 5K is quickly approaching! The 5k is Saturday April 14th and the Half Marathon is Sunday April 15th. Block 15 encourages you to participate! In support of this, we will be covering the registration cost of any Caves or Block 15 employee who participates.

You must request, and be approved for, that time off of work by February 28th.

If you would like to register for one of these runs, please check in with your scheduling manager first. Sarah and Laura will be giving Kristen A. a list of all staff members who are approved for that time off.  She will then message all approved staff with a code that will allow you to register for free!

Please note this 'offer' is only good for those of you who participate.  If you register, but don't participate, you will owe Block 15 the registration fee, so make sure to only sign up if you are committed to running!

For event specific information, please visit the Corvallis Half Marathon website. Let Kristen know if you have any questions.

You and a guest* are invited to the Block 15 and Caves Holiday Formal!

Nick Arzner’s Fried Stuffed Olives - Green olives stuffed with seasoned pork, prosciutto, and parmesan; then breaded and fried. Gloria! Is the perfect beer to pair with this flavorful appetizer. The carbonation will scrub the fatty sausage while zippy hops stand up and complement the briny olives. The herbal notes of the beer should also pair well with the seasonings. A perfect beer to wash down this crispy and satisfying dish.

  • Bakery Bar

  • Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • Figgy Pudding

  • Spiced Apple Pavlova
